North End of Virginia Beach Oceanfront & Bay Colony

North End/Bay Colony-  If the beach is your thing but you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of the oceanfront “strip” then this is a great place to live.  There isn’t a single home that isn’t within biking distance of the Atlantic Ocean.  It isn’t uncommon to see a golf cart parading towards the beach with surf boards strapped to the top.  The homes in the North End/Bay Colony area are a combination of the original cape cod style beach bungalows and new contemporary single family homes.  Some of the homes date back to the early to mid 1900’s when Virginia Beach was a weekend vacation spot for the upper crust of the bustling port city of Norfolk.  In Bay Colony the houses are much more spread apart with most lots being at least a ½ acre in size and many being over an acre.  With the Princess Anne Country Club Golf Course meandering through the neighborhood and the ocean being a 5 minute bike ride away, this area has a lot to offer the active family.
